The software boasts private chats, groups, forums, and blogs among other things. The programme has built in Tor network functionality. Unless you chose to share it, Briar keeps all you do on your smartphone.
Briar can sync keeping data flowing while the Internet is unavailable using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or memory cards. If the Internet is down, Briar can sync over the Tor network, therefore shielding users and their relationships from prying eyes.
There are neither tracking or advertising present. Anyone can review the app's source code; it has already undergone expert audit. Briar's releases are repeatable, so one can confirm that the published app perfectly matches the source code. The app is developed by a tiny non-profit team.
