After a suggestion from TommyInnit, Quackity was included on Dream's Minecraft server, the Dream SMP, in the month of August 2020. Quackity and Dream didn't spend much time talking to one another at first, but as they made friends with the same person, GeorgeNotFound, their relationship blossomed. According to Dream, Quackity was one of the funniest people he knew and even the funniest person in the world.

Following the conclusion of the Dream Survival Multiplayer Server, both Dream and Quackity announced the launch of new Survival Multiplayer Servers for Minecraft: the United SMP and the Quackity SMP, respectively. Both servers supported many languages, and the translation modifications for both servers were revealed around the same time. This coincidental timing generated some controversy among players, who claimed that one content provider had stolen ideas from the other. Dream addressed the "drama" and stated that he and Quackity accidentally worked on the same item, but they kept it hidden and clashed with each other because of it. He went on to say that he does not harbor any ill will towards Quackity and that he adores him to the point of death.[1] The dream continued by saying that all he wanted was to have a good time with his pals and that he despises it when other people downplay the accomplishments that Quackity has made in the gaming industry. The dream was quoted as saying that Quackity allowed people the opportunity to attempt to construct bridges.[2]

After some time had passed, Dream brought up the subject once more, this time in a much more involved discussion. He stated once more that he and Quackity both worked on their projects in their spare time and had the same overarching goal, which was to create a new Minecraft server for players to play on. Dream claims that after he came up with the concept of a Minecraft server populated by players from all over the world, he immediately began work on a translation mod. Following Quackity's announcement of the QSMP, Dream contacted out to show his support for the project and to let Quackity know that he, too, was working on a server to bring people from all over the world together. The dream was taught to believe that the QSMP and USMP could co-exist and that he could share the translation mod with Quackity if he wanted to. Since Quackity's server had not mentioned anything regarding translation, Dream was led to believe that this was the case. The dream didn't hear back from Quackity, and he reasoned that it must be because Quackity was too overwhelmed or busy to respond. Dream reached out to other members of the QSMP and received assurances from them that the QSMP and the USMP were two separate organizations. The dream kept working on the USMP, and he even made plans for Quackity to become the administrator of the Spanish community that was hosted on the server. Dream's video on the translation mod he created was published with the goal of being an April Fools' Day joke. Soon after that, Quackity made an announcement about a translation mod for his server, which left Dream feeling a little bit downhearted because he was aware that the scenario would lead to trouble. Due to the fact that both Dream and Quackity were committed to and enthusiastic about their respective projects, Dream was pleased to exchange ideas with Quackity.[3]

Once more, Dream reached out to Quackity for encouragement, and Quackity giggled over how similar their thoughts were to one another. Quickly did not respond to any of Dream's messages; yet, the two of them ended up at the same place at the same time. Dream stated that there was a lot of animosity and violence that had begun to brew within their fan communities, and Dream urged talking things out in order to avoid fighting. A few days later, Dream had the notion that Quackity might have been annoyed with him because he believed Dream had stolen his concept. Dream found out from pals the two had in common that Quackity wasn't responding to any of their messages either. A week or so later, Dream told Quackity that he loved her and that he didn't think a Minecraft SMP was important enough to warrant putting their friendship at risk. Dream confessed that he did not intend to compete with Quackity or imitate anything that he had done.

The loud pair began as a supporting pair due to the dynamic nature of their performances and the limited number of interactions they had. However, a few people brought up the fact that the two appeared to have a difficult time interacting with one another and that they did not do so very often. Despite this, there were those that liked both of them, and the two of them currently have over 630 works posted on AO3.

When the "drama" involving the Loud Duo became a topic of conversation among a large number of people, many of them supported Quackity's side. They considered that Dream was acting immaturely by publishing so much about the matter publicly, and they pointed out that Quackity had openly talked about the QSMP when Dream claimed that he kept the project private. They believed that Dream was immature for doing either of these things. Even Quackity himself liked a tweet that discussed how Quackity had been talking about the QSMP for at least the past year and a half, beginning in January 2023.[7] Others took Dream's side and argued that he wouldn't have been required to make a public statement regarding the matter if Quackity had answered his questions. Some people refused to take a side and instead advocated for Dream and Quackity to have a conversation in order to resolve the conflict. Others who didn't take sides made jokes to make light of the issue, and other people thought it was ridiculous to have a fight over Minecraft servers. Others said it was absurd to have a fight over Minecraft servers.
