The National Demographic Data Center - Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam created the VNeID application using demographic data, identification, and electronic authentication.
People who live and visit Vietnam are eligible for the VNeID application.
The VNeID solution enables citizens to replace traditional papers, identify themselves in digital environments, provide utilities for establishing digital citizenship, digital government, and digital society, and assist citizens in declaring medical reports and domestic trip declarations. The software also helps authorities track secondary COVID-19 infections and notify patients in time.
The User agrees to grant the application access to the following functions by using the Application:
- The user's device provides Internet access.
- Scannable QR codes on CD cards can be read with a camera to expedite the process of providing basic citizen information and scanning the QR code at the scanning station.
- QRcode pictures can be kept on the device for inspection when going through citizen checks, alongside photos, movies, audios, and data.
- Notifications are sent to the user’s device.
Input personal information:
The user inputs data, declares medical information, relocates domestically, or declares on behalf of another person with their permission. A person's personal information comprises their full name, phone number, citizenship identity number, gender, year of birth, permanent address, nationality, health status, place of departure, destination, car number plate, and contact with those infected with COVID-19. User information is gathered by completing and submitting forms with their permission.
The user is completely responsible for how he or she uses and enters information:
The National Population Data Center, Ministry of Public Security, shall keep and secure user data for the sole purpose of preventing and controlling COVID-19, as well as assisting in illness prevention and health protection. Please do not use this information for commercial purposes or to infringe on privacy. COVID-19 data may be shared with various agencies in order to improve COVID-19 prevention efforts.
Aside from the aforementioned goals:
The application developer does not collect or utilize user information for any other reason. According to Vietnamese legislation or application policy, we will not release any information that may hurt or breach a user's privacy.
VNeID does not collect data about your current location:
Anyone can join a community without being identified. Only competent authorities can identify whether a person is affected or suspects they are contaminated after having close contact with someone who has COVID-19 and conducts tracing.
